Piratdokumentar ude: Steal This Film(Fra Christian /
Openbusiness)
"An interesting and inspiring movie has just been released about The Pirate Bay - the biggest Bittorrent filesharing website in the world. Millions of internet users download music, books and most prominently films via the site. Its not only a technical revolution in the distribution of media, but as the film argues, a cultural and social innovation in the way we access media.
Without any financial support the production team went to Sweden to meet the people behind the Piratebay. Without much prior experience in filmmaking they managed to produce a convincing documentary, which will be released and promoted via thepiratebay.org and
StealThisFilm.com. They describe…
WE WANTED TO MAKE A FILM THAT WOULD EXPLORE THIS HUGE POPULAR MOVEMENT IN A WAY THAT EXCITED US, ENGAGED US, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, FOCUSSED ON WHAT WE KNOW TO BE THE POSITIVE AND OPTIMISTIC VISION MANY FILESHARERS AND ARTISTS (THEY ARE OFTEN ONE) HAVE FOR THE FUTURE OF CREATIVITY.

"In part two we want to (..) talk to the 'thinkers' of the filesharing movement and interview the most interesting of them. We also want to talk to Adam Curtis, who made The Century of the Self, and the Power of Nightmares. We want to talk to Noam Chomsky. We want to talk to Sy Hersh (The New Yorker), John Pilger and Robert Fisk. We'd like to find out what part they think the old media played into getting us in the mess we're in. We'd like to help them think about the future we're building and catch them thinking about it on camera.
We'd like to make sure all our shots are in focus this time, and we're a bit jealous of the sound recording on good documentaries. And the lighting. So we'll get that right next time (see 'things you can help with!"
