The Long Tail - Chris Anderson Interview

For et år siden læste jeg en glimrede artikel i Wired som har ligget og rodet i baghovedet. Artiklen, der er skrevet af chefredaktør Chris Anderson, hævder at fremtidens underholdningsmarked i stigende grad vil tilgodese nicheproduktioner og non-mainstream indhold. For nylig mindede Sean Treadway mig om den, så nu har jeg skruet et indslag og interview med mr. Long Tail sammen. Beklager den forringede lydkvalitet under interviewet - den fysiske verden skulle også have lidt at sige..

Wikipedia: Anderson argues that products that are in low demand or have low sales volume can collectively make up a market share that rivals or exceeds the relatively few current bestsellers and blockbusters, if the store or distribution channel is large enough. Examples of such mega-stores include Amazon.com, Netflix, and even Wikipedia. The Long Tail is a potential market and, as the examples illustrate, successfully tapping in to that long tail market is often enabled by the distribution and sales channel opportunities the Internet creates.

Det må man jo i allerhøjeste grad sige kom til at holde vand.
